What is Zero Balancing?
"Zero Balancing is a full-body, holistic therapy that is changing lives by balancing the structure and energy
of the bones. You get off the table with a clear mind, bright eyes and a calm nervous system. " - EzineArticles.com, July 2009
Zero Balancing (ZB) integrates Western concepts of osteopathic medicine with Eastern principles of energy and healing. It supports alignment of the body’s structure with attention to energy flow in muscle, fascia, and bone. Zero Balancing relieves stress by supporting internal order and clarity. It is helpful for chronic pain conditions and for maintaining emotional well-being. It releases stress and tensions within the body and the mind, relieves symptoms caused by energetic or structural imbalances, encourages integration and stabilization. Aligning energy with structure enhances the body's natural healing processes and works in conjunction with medical therapy.
Zero balancing was developed by Dr. Fritz Frederick Smith who earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 1955, Medicine in 1961, and Master of Acupuncture in 1973. Pursuing deeper understanding of health and illness, he studied cranial osteopathy, Rolfing (Ida Rolf), yoga, meditation (with yogi master Muktananda), Taoism, Eastern teachings on energy medicine, and modern physics. Watching an acupuncture demonstration, Dr. Smith observed that the human being is both an energy body and a structural body. He says, "I saw that energy actually existed in the body as a specific factor; that energy has its own anatomy and physiology, and that mental physical health are dependent on its relationship to structure." Dr. Smith says "I realized my Western medical views were too limited to account for what I had witnessed. The foundation of my scientific model cracked and an expanded view of nature came to life." For optimum health the energy and physical body must function in alignment.

"Zero Balancing focuses primarily on key joints of our skeleton that conduct and balance forces of gravity, posture and movement. True health is more than the absence of symptoms; it must include the capacity for contentment in life as it unfolds." - Fritz Smith, MD What to expect during a Zero Balancing session? After an initial discussion with the practitioner to share information about your current state of health and your reasons for seeking Zero Balancing, you will receive a seated evaluation. Then you will lie on your back, fully clothed, on a massage table. The practitioner will assess your body for tension, particularly tension held in the bones, joints, and skeletal structure. Then the practitioner will place gentle finger pressure (fulcrums) into foundational areas including the spine, hips, feet and neck to release held tension. By aligning the densest tissues - the bones and joints - with the energy moving through them, Zero Balancing facilitates dissolution of limiting and uncomfortable patterns of all kinds thereby releasing the patient's own energy back into them. A typical ZB session is refreshing, and deeply relaxing, and re-establishes one's sense of comfort with life.
